Discover Sawmill's Studio - Just a short walk from the Property.

One of Cornwall's most unique hidden gems, Sawmills Studio is just a 15 -minute walk from the property, tucked away along the beautiful River Fowey.
The walk itself is part of the famous Saints' Way, an ancient trail that winds through woodland, open countryside and along the estuary. Following this peaceful footpath from Golant, you'll pass through quiet woods and riverside scenery before arriving at the secluded creek where Sawmills sits.
A hidden piece of music history.
Sawmills is a world-renowned residential recording studio, set within a 17th-century water mill. Over the years, legendary artists such as Oasis, Muse, The Verve and The Stone Roses have recorded here, drawn by its remote and inspiring setting.

What makes it truly special is its seclusion, as the studio can only be reached on foot via Saints' Way or by boat giving it a peaceful, almost secret feel.

In the footsteps of Wind in the Willows.
The peaceful waters of the River Fowey are often associated with the world of Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows, and its easy to see why.

Grahame spent time in this part of Cornwall, and the gentle, tree-lined estuary between Fowey and Golant is widely believed to have helped inspire the book's timeless river scenes. With its quiet backwaters, overhanging woodland and unspoiled natural beauty.
Adding a new chapter to Cornwall's story is the Belmond Britannic Explorer, a luxury sleeper train launched in 2025. If you're fortunate, you may capture a glimpse of the train as it comes to rest moments from Cormorant house. A subtle yet telling detail, placing this peaceful riverside setting among the most thoughtfully chosen stops in Britain's most refined journeys.
Inside

Cormorant Art
Art has always been part of the story of Cormorant House. The owners both have creative backgrounds and a real passion for art, craft and visual storytelling. The works featured within the house have not been chosen as a formal collection, but because each one holds a connection; with people, places, memories, humour or nature.
Some of the pieces have been discovered more instinctively, through galleries, travel, books, local makers and moments of recognition.
The pieces together create a conversation throughout the house, between contemporary art and natural history, film and craft, humour and landscape, the decorative and the deeply personal.
We have also created a Cormorant Art manual for the house. It shares some of the stories behind the works, the artists and the connections that brought them here. More than a catalogue, it offers a way of seeing Cormorant House through the art that shapes its atmosphere, character, and sense of home.
